Nuances of the abyss- the story goes on!
Paul Hitter’s exhibition on the Romanian Gulag, is travelling further. After the opening exhibition in Pitesti, the place where the most horiffic reeducation program started, the next place on the map is equally gruesome, the old castle of Fagarasch. The castle built in 14th century, was used as a prison in the communist era. Behind its walls, political prisoners were facing the russian inspired extermination programme. Paul Hitter’s exhibition is programmed between 16th of November and the 26th of November.
We believe that Paul Hitter’s exhibition is important in the political context of Romania, 27 years after the fall of the Iron Courtain, no real retribution for the victims was made, no real public conviction for the crimes of the communist regime.
Survivers of the “Romanian Gulag”, relatives of the victims, they were all present at the opening exhibition in Pitesti. The next place, Fagarash castle, will probably attract a numerous public aswell, for the Fagarasch region, is the main region were in the 50’s groups of Partizans were creating an anti-communist armed rezistance.
We kindly invite you to the next stop in the tour Paul Hitter is making with his exhibition.
